Time to get Daffy

The Daffodils are beginning their bloom here, always the latest to start around these parts. But it's a wait that is worth it for the joyful spring exuberance they bring.
I won't be at the markets this week as I start my 'day job' but the micros will be available at the Farm to Market Store.
When not at the day job, I'm busy planting all the seedlings that grew from the seeds planted the last 2 months. People like to say that farming is a marathon not a sprint but it sure doesn't feel that way during the big spring planting rush to get all the long-season flowers put out.

This is the busy planting season. By the end of May, I'll have planted hundreds of flower seedlings (while seeding more) and the weekly seeding and planting of salad mix continues through September. Time to get hands in the dirt!

Warm days mean the tiny bit of aphids in the Dragon Dome get busy themselves which means it's time to unleash the ladybugs. They will do a little work to keep them down but really it is waiting for them to lay eggs and the larvae to come out as they really like to eat aphids

It's the beginning of Daffodil season, or as cut flower growers refer to them, Heirloom Narcissus. These aren't your big trumpets of yellow and white but double-petaled, triple-petaled, gold, cream, coral, salmon, and orange Daffodils.

They are treasures of spring that herald the beginning of warmer days but can still survive the cold nights
The weekly deliveries of microgreens to the Farm to Market store continue and they've been extra lush as the micros got to move into the Dragon Dome last week and get out from under their winter lights and into the warm full sunshine
