What is WWOOF?
WWOOF (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms) is a cultural and educational program focused on sustainable agriculture. Visitors, or ‘WWOOFers’, share in daily life with their host and learn about organic farming and sustainability while spending about half of each day helping out on a farm. Hosts offer accommodation and meals to visitors, with no money exchanged between hosts and WWOOFers.
WWOOF brings people together from diverse corners of the world who share similar values and philosophies, and provides them with a new connection to a fresh and vibrant community. Click here to visit their website and learn more about it.

A lot of people ask about volunteering on the farm or coming and learning a bit in exchange for some work/labor. I love welcoming people to the farm and really letting people settle in so that they are not just visitors (people taking pictures, observing knowledge, learning skills) but can enter a gateway to become land tenders (sharing knowledge, giving attention, time, and energy), but it can be hard as a business to balance the energy and space I want to share with others along with the tasks and jobs that need being done to pay the bills. Also, as a business, I legally cannot have 'volunteers', that's a realm for non-profits.
Hosting WWOOFers is great way for me to share this space and my connection to the Land while not letting the nitty gritty details of running a production farm get lost. People get to live on the land, or spend a day, sharing in farm tasks, learning about this land and it's non-human inhabitants, sharing in meals, and getting many moments to remain grounded in the dirt and soil and microbes.
