A New Year is just around the corner and it brings fresh microgreens and lotsa eggs! I've been reading new farm books, watching webinars and trainings, and working more on the planting plan for this new year. All while tending the microgreens, collecting eggs and cleaning duck huts. And all the fresh goodies will be back for pick up this Friday! There are also a few more Yard Sale items added as I find more stuff hiding in corners. Winter is a great time for clearing house so that deep spring cleaning can go a lot easier! The hens and Hella got a few holiday gifts and a fresh layer of snow makes me happy! Yet again I found some other items that were tucked away for a rainy day and they've been added to the online store as part of the Yard Sale. What's available this week?

It's time for a change, as the sun (slowly) returns! The more you farm or do anything that relies upon the seasons or weather, you become less and less aware of the human holidays (and marking of the days) and more and more aware of when the seasons shift, the subtle change of light, the smell in the air, the brightness of the moon and how they affect the plants and animals around you. Thus it is that Solstice, the marker of when sunlight (the rocket fuel for plant growth) returns and day length increases, feels like a more important celebration than anything else and all the other celebrations of the season just add to the merriment! (Also with Amazon and online shopping, Santa can deliver presents any and every day of the year!) There is no Pop Up / Drop Off this week as that is Christmas Day! So I may not get a holiday from feeding hens or collecting eggs, but I do get a break from wintertime driving and errand running! All the Hens, Hella, and Me wish you all a Safe and Happy Holiday Season! All the rain and thawing soil meant it was best for me to stay inside and get more cabin painting projects wrapped up! Now all the window frames are painted and protected from all those plants that fill them up! Hella ended her self-imposed indoor lockdown (she don't like when it's wet and muddy) to come out into the snow and catch a shrew! She never eats them (they aren't very big or tasty) and also rarely kills them as it takes a lot to accomplish that, but has a 'catch and release' policy with them and they usually escape into a tiny spot she can't get into. They truly are shrewd shrews! What's available this week?Nothing! but it'll all be back for next Friday, 1/1/21!!!
There will be no delivery next week, so if you need eggs, microgreens, wreaths, or yard sale items, you'll wanna get them now! Me and the farm goodies will be back the following week, so you won't have to wait too long and the Yard Sale items will stay online and available until spring! Another wintery week with a little new snow, means working on website updates, seed and planting plans, and more house projects. The hens keep laying, the Earth keeps turning, and each day brings us one day closer to spring! A thick dusting of fluffy snow is just enough for all the tiny paw prints to appear. It's amazing to see all the little super highways with their entrances and exits. So many more goodies are online in the virtual yard sale! More kitchenware, utensils, vintage silver-plated trays & spoons, vintage porcelain, wrapping paper, a few vacuums, and LEGO. This Friday is my last drop off before Christmas, so you gotta get it now if you need it! What's available this week?

I'll be at Libby this Friday from 12-1230pm! I'll be at Troy this Friday from 1-130pm! A full attic to go through, wash up, organize, photograph, and load online! That was the main project this week along with beginning a few more painting projects (it seems never ending right?) Now my once tidy living room is filled with items all lined up and waiting for new homes! I did make some time to get outside and enjoy the sunshine and crisp air, but now it's time to reorganize the stuff that stays in the attic and organize them into (temporary) boxes in the living room before Hella crashes into them all when she gets the zoomies! Hopefully there is some snow on the way so I can get my xc skis back in action and work on setlling in some trails around the field (too bad I don't have any good places for a few slopes or jumps!) For now I've been spending time in the sun with Hella and the Hens, who are finally laying more than 1-2 eggs a day! Look for a few more egg cartons in the store each week (even as the Ducks slow down for a winter sabbatical). There are also the microgreens, of course, and once all the yard sale items are cataloged, I get to start in on some more wintertime dried flower goodies and fiber crafts! The online store has the first big batch of yard sale items! It's full of mugs, glasses, bowls, bakeware, tea pots, and some vintage goodies. There is a bit more to add, but snag what you want now! I'll be at Libby this Friday from 12-1230pm! I'll be at Troy this Friday from 1-130pm! The tidying and painting inside continues as does the outside winter chore of cleaning the huts and runs (which is usually done in summer by moving them to fresh grass)! The winter farm conference season starts up with lots of webinars and videos. It will give me a lot to ponder as I work on my crop planning this month. And the sun is shining for awhile which is a good excuse to get outside and soak up some rays, even if it means just wandering the field and forests! I do have outside projects to work on but sometimes you don't wanna stand on cold concrete, holding cold metal tools, especially when your feet wanna move! This week there is the usual microgreens, eggs, and wreaths. The new addition to the website that I am working on is a virtual yard sale of sorts (it is much easier for me to do one in winter than in summer). As I've been tidying the cabin, I re-discover lots of goodies (mainly various mugs, home baking equipment, and some fancy glassware) that I don't need anymore and should find homes that can appreciate them. Look for them next week! The upstairs office/studio got a couple coats of paint on the ceiling, walls, and floor! It was rough wood with lots of pen marks and notes to peoples past and unfinished drywall with holes, scratches, and water stains. Now its is fresh, clean, and bright! A perfect spot to tackle all the sewing, crocheting, seed saving, wreath making, crop planning, website updating, weaving, writing, labeling, and, sooner rather than later, tax prepping that fills my winter hours. What's available this week?
