The Online Farm Store is up and open for orders! For now you can pick up locally on Saturdays in Libby from 12-1230pm and Troy from 1-130pm. You can order and pay online or email in what you want and pay when you pickup. There are so many thing that I've added and that will be available! Eggs, Microgreens, farm-saved Seeds, New & Improved Dragon's Balm, Dried Bouquets, and more. Another big update is a new batch of Dragon's Balm in an improved package! To make application and transport easier I've sourced kraft tubes that work just like chapstick tubes. They are fully biodegradable and keep your fingers grease-free while applying the good stuff to any ouchie, burn, cut, scrape, or bug bite. I know I'm sticking one in every bag, car, shed, and pocket! They'll be available in two sizes. The taller, slimmer 1/3oz tubes are easy to slip into any pocket and the closest to the familiar chapstick size. The shorter, wider ½ oz tubes are great for larger applications like those skinned knees or cracked elbows. The two main ingredients in any salve or balm is oil (in this I use olive oil infused with wildcrafted and farm-grown botanicals) and beeswax. They need to be warmed and melted to be combined and it can be a messy affair. I'm lucky to get to use one of my Grandpa's old glass double boilers that he used every day to make his oatmeal breakfast (which he lovingly called 'mush'!). It lets me warm the oil and wax slowly. Then I get to practice my patience when filling the wobbly, tiny tubes. It's best done incrementally, letting each section cool before adding the next. This limits the amount of cracking and subsidence, even if it can't eliminate it completely. What's available this week?

Spring is slowly arriving and it brings with it the lovely seasonal creek (and partially overflowing river on the far edge of the field) that runs right in between my main building and the growing plots. The resident white tails are returning as the grass greens up and the wild plants sprout in the field. The cats are enjoying the bright (and warm) lights that help the seed starts get a jump on the lingering cold outside. A few more weeks and the flats full of tender, tiny seedlings will begin migrating to the Dragon Dome to absorb the sunshine and temperature swings that will define their lives on the little frosty farm. Oliver (somewhat unsuccessfully renamed Raja) is beginning his outdoor training in earnest as the hens get used to not just 1 but 2 (and eventually 4) furry friends that might prowl around them occasionally. I am gearing up for a March 18th online store update that will be filled with farm-saved seeds, dried flower bouquets, and newly packaged (and hopefully more convenient) Dragon's Balm. In the meantime, you can continue to pick up fresh microgreens at the Farm to Market Store in Libby with a new delivery mid-morning on Saturdays. The hens have also started to lay again and the egg cartons are piling up! I don't currently have a set-in-stone delivery method for them but as I deliver the greens on Saturdays I can also deliver eggs that same day and approximate time each week, if you are interested reply to this email and I'll work on setting up a regular meetup location. Oliver is learning the ropes of being around (but not terrorizing) the hens. He doesn't stray much further than the porch or the woodshed so I don't have to worry about him wandering too far With all the rain and melt, the seasonal stream is nearly a river. When you live in a nearly flat field the decisions of where buildings go it determined by micro-topography and so far, I've chosen well! The perennials were waiting under the snow and are quickly taking it's melt to their advantage. At top is the Nettles patch. Mid Left is the Lupines. They are green when first year sprouts from seed but are a deep red in their first growth in later years. Mid Right is the Chamomile. Lower Left is the wonderful Comfrey and Lower Right is one of many mounds of Foxglove getting ready to send up their biennial flower stalks What's available this week?
