A favorite edible and medicinal low-growing perennial that tolerates almost any soil condition. Will grow wide juicy leaves with regular watering. A wonderful plant used traditionally to soothe irritated skin. It tolerates frosts and will grow happily in any lawn or garden. To me, a garden is not complete without it.
help me grow:
Plant out as soon as soil is unfrozen or start 2-3 weeks indoors before last frost. Can be left to fend for itself but it will appreciate some normal watering when dry conditions prevail.
enjoy my bounty:
leaves are traditionally used to make a salve or tincture. Harvest anytime but best before setting seed. Very young leaves can be added to a salad but get tough when older.
